HOK-Elanto Acquires Neighborhood Shopping Center Malmin Nova from eQ Commercial Properties

HOK-Elanto has acquired the neighborhood shopping center Malmin Nova in Malmi, Helsinki. The seller was the eQ Commercial Properties Fund.

Malmin Nova serves residents of Malmi and northern Helsinki. The property was completed in 1987 and has 12,171 m² of leasable area. The shopping center includes a large free parking garage and more than 40 shops and services. Anchor tenants include Tokmanni, JYSK, Yliopiston Apteekki, Alko, Alepa and Fitness 24/7.

Chief of Real Estate, Timo Myllynen, from HOK-Elanto commented on LinkedIn that the company sees significant development potential both in the shopping center and in the wider area. He said it is great to respond to the needs of current and future residents and to take part in advancing the developing Malmi center.

The main part of K-Citymarket section, owned by Mercada, was not included in the transaction. K-Citymarket is an interconnected part of the center and is located on the northern side. Across the railway line from Malmin Nova is the Malmintori shopping center, which includes a Prisma hypermarket and Lidl among other retailers. Malmintori’s major shareholder is Trophi, with 48% ownership.
