Kesko will make significant investments in strengthening its Citymarket network across the Helsinki metropolitan area over the coming years. New K-Citymarkets are planned for Helsinki’s Kalasatama district, Espoo’s Espoontori shopping center, and Vantaa’s Tikkurila area.
In Helsinki, a new K-Citymarket will open in the Redi shopping center, expanding the current K-Supermarket into a two-floor store. The grocery section will remain downstairs, with non-food departments built above. The opening is expected between 2027 and 2028.
In Espoo, construction has already started at Espoontori, where a new store will serve the fast-growing Espoon keskus area. The project includes demolition and infrastructure work before full store construction begins, with opening targeted for late 2028.
In Vantaa, Kesko has acquired a majority stake in the Tikkuri shopping center near the Tikkurila railway station, planning a new large-scale store with excellent accessibility. The project could also include retail, restaurants, offices, housing, and a parking facility, depending on future zoning. Construction may start later in the decade.
Kesko invests €200–250 million annually in developing its retail network and continues to expand its K-Citymarket presence across Finland, with additional projects underway in Vantaa, Kuopio, Oulu, Lahti, Ylivieska, and Porvoo.
